Graphic Design Emphasis
I’ve always
known I had some sort of artist or designer in me. As a kid I was constantly
rearranging and repainting my bedroom. I would always discover new ways to
reorganize my things and I always thought there was a place for everything. I
love graphic design because it’s a science in an art. It wasn’t until high school that I was
introduced to the world of graphic design. I took an Intro to Graphic Design
Class at SLCC and realized that this is why the world is the way it is. My
senior year I had taken every Graphic Design class offered by the concurrent
enrollment program by my high school that I was begging the professor to keep
me around in her studio, she decided to let me be her print studio assistant. I spent all my
time making vinyl stickers and screen printing.
Unfortunately because I considered it a hobby, majority of my work was
lost.
It wasn’t
until I was sophomore in college that I changed m major to art. There I watched
my work grow tremendously. I’ve learned that the simpler the better, embrace
the whitespace in your work. I love typography, and I’m still learning the best
way to go about using it in my work, but I see progress from my earliest work
to now. I’m a very competitive person by nature and I will always try to be my
competitors with something different or something more interesting to look at,
maybe it won’t be successful or maybe it will be, I always hope it will
be. It’s like a puzzle of information
that needs to be solved in a limited space.
I’m very anxious to take my work even further. I know I have an endless
amount to grow and it’s something I really look forward to. I'd love to see what more I can do with the right instruction.
